December 28, 2010 - Newton County, Ga.- Authorities were faced with a massive cleanup after an accident involving at least one tractor trailer on Interstate 20.
A news alert from MyFoxAtlanta.com states that all left lanes on Interstate 20 were closed off after the collision. The accident occurred Tuesday morning near exit 98 just east of Covington in Newton County.
Police have not yet released information about how the crash occurred. Nor have they given any details about the names, ages or hometowns of the drivers or any passengers involved in the tractor trailer wreck. At this time, police have not released details about the extent of the victims' accident injuries. All that is known at this time is that at least 2 people were injured in the crash.
As of this blog posting, authorities were working on cleaning up the wreckage and investigating the cause of the truck crash. There is currently no word on whether any passenger vehicles were involved in the highway accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics show that there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
