December 3, 2010 - Cobb County, Ga. - A man has died in the hospital after being struck by a car in Mableton.
CBS Atlanta reports that the fatal pedestrian accident happened Thursday on Floyd Road, just south of Clay Road, in Mableton. According to investigators, James C. Miskel, 64, was walking across the northbound lanes of Floyd Road when he was hit by a car in the left lane.
Miskel was transported to Atlanta Medical Center immediately following the accident. He was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
Natalie N. Harden, 43, was the driver of the vehicle that struck Miskel. Harden received no injuries in the pedestrian crash.
The cause of the accident remains unclear at this time. The accident is under ongoing investigation. All further investigations are being handled by the Cobb County Police.
At this time, no charges are expected to be filed in connection with this accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics show that there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
